Rules

Greaseball Challenge is a charity biofuel car rally on a shoestring budget. To preserve this ethos, there are a few simple rules:

1. The On Your Own Rule:

You are entirely responsible for yourself. If something goes wrong or you get yourself in a pickle, you have to get yourself out of it - there is absolutely no support or back-up once you hit the road. When you sign up you will have to sign our team entry agreement so you can't sue us when something goes wrong – like you spill your McDonalds coffee in your lap! A side note here – you’re responsible for all insurance and vehicle requirements of driving in the various states we go through – if you don’t have them, don’t think you can blame us – but we’re not requiring you to have them either.

2. The Charity Money Rule:

You need to raise a minimum of $1000 per team for the official rally charities by whatever means you see fit. The Greaseball Rally is going to raise lots of cash for many good ‘green’ charities and non-profit organisations, which is good. See the "Our Projects" section for more information on the causes we choose to support and feel free to contact us with any that are close to your heart.

3. The Greasecar Rule:

You should use a car converted to run on waste grease. While we will allow entrants with vehicles powered by other fuels, we don’t really want anyone who is just going to turn up and run their car on fossil fuels, it's just not what we are trying to achieve. Please see the section entitled ‘non-greasecars’ for the penalties that we will impose on non-greasecars (it's not all bad, some fuels get bonus points for competing). Exceptions to this rule may be considered for vehicles of notable unusualness with high comedy value (get in touch with your ideas if you think your wheels qualify).

4. The Route Rule:

There isn’t a set route but we think you will have more fun if you stick to the outlined route and gang up with some of your fellow competitors.  Either way, just be back at the finishing line in time for a big party.

5. Last rule:

While rules are made to be broken, the “on your own” rule and the charity rule are hard and fast rules of the Greaseball Rally. They cannot be broken as this event is about education, fun, a good cause, and being safe! Remember you are responsible for yourself and your team – and we need you to raise money for charity as part of your participation.
